Vinted account blocked? Why it happens and what to do
· 5 min read
A blocked Vinted account is usually one of four things: an account under review, a temporary block for breaking a rule, a permanent block for something serious, or a security lock after unusual activity. Each one has a different fix. Here’s what Vinted’s own help centre says about them, read in October 2026.
First, work out which kind of block it is
- Under review. If you only got a message that your account is being reviewed, with no moderation decision, Vinted says it should be sorted out shortly. Wait for it.
- Temporary block. When you log in you see the date it ends. It lasts 7 to 30 days, depending on the reason.
- Permanent block. There’s no end date. You can still log in to contact Vinted and, in most cases, to transfer your balance.
- Security lock. Vinted can lock access automatically when it sees suspicious activity, or when you ask it to. That protects the account, it isn’t a penalty.
Why Vinted blocks accounts
Vinted blocks accounts that break its Terms and Conditions, its catalogue rules or the Vinted Pro terms. The reasons its help centre lists for a temporary block:
- insulting other members or Vinted’s support team;
- inappropriate behaviour or photos;
- repeatedly listing items that aren’t allowed;
- selling counterfeits;
- pushing buyers to pay outside Vinted;
- selling as a business without a Pro account.
A permanent block is for more serious or repeated cases: items banned by law, fraud or scams, several personal accounts, repeated counterfeits, live animals, repeatedly ignoring Vinted’s messages, and repeated business selling without Pro status.
How to contest a block
- Open the message from Vinted with the moderation decision, in your Vinted inbox or your email, and use the link in it.
- Explain why you think the decision is wrong, and attach every piece of evidence you have: receipts or photos that show an item is genuine, screenshots of the conversation, proof that you sent the parcel.
- Get it right the first time: you can contest a decision only once, within 6 months of receiving it.
- If the answer is still no, you can go to a certified out-of-court dispute body or to the courts in your country.
What happens to your money
After a permanent block you can usually still log in, go to your profile, open your Vinted balance and transfer it to your bank. Vinted can refuse the transfer if it would put other members at risk, if the account has been compromised, or if the payment provider sees a fraud risk. A permanently blocked account can’t be deleted, for security reasons.
Blocked for selling as a business
If you buy clothes to resell, Vinted treats that as business selling, which belongs on a Pro account. If that’s why you were blocked, Vinted may ask you to switch to Vinted Pro, but only within 6 months of the block. Our Vinted Pro guide covers who needs it and how to sign up.
Watch out for fake “account blocked” messages
Scammers send emails, texts and chat messages saying your Vinted account is blocked or your money is on hold, with a link to “verify” your card or your identity. Don’t click. Open the Vinted app yourself: a real block or a real request shows up there. Never type card details into a page someone sent you a link to, and keep conversations and payments inside Vinted.
How to stay out of trouble
- Sell only what the catalogue rules allow, and never counterfeits.
- Keep every payment inside Vinted, even when a buyer asks otherwise.
- One personal account. A second one is only allowed as a Pro account, with a different email address and phone number.
- Answer Vinted’s messages instead of ignoring them.
- Describe items honestly and show flaws in your own photos, so “not as described” complaints don’t pile up.
Honest listings, fewer problems
Many disputes start with a photo that hid something. Daylight photos with the true colour and every flaw shown up close prevent most of them; our list of the worst Vinted photos shows what to avoid. Vintsee can add a worn photo made from your own photo of the item, keeping colour, print, logos and wear as they are. Keep your own photos of the real item in the listing too.
