How to send a Vinted parcel: packing and shipping
· 4 min read
You’ve sold something on Vinted. Now you have a few working days to get it in the post, packed well enough that it arrives the way it left. Here’s the whole process, with the rules from Vinted’s help centre, read in October 2026.
Step by step
- Find the label. After the sale, Vinted generates a prepaid shipping label with instructions. It’s in your conversation with the buyer and in your email. Depending on the shipping option, it’s a label to print or a digital one you show at drop-off.
- Pack the item (how below).
- Use the label for this order and only that one. The buyer chose and paid for the shipping option at checkout.
- Drop it off within 5 working days of the sale.
- Keep the proof of postage: the drop-off receipt, a copy of the label or the confirmation email, until the order is completed.
The 5-day deadline
You have 5 working days from the purchase. If you need longer, ask the buyer to extend the deadline: they can accept or refuse. Miss it and the order is cancelled automatically and the buyer gets a refund. Cancellation can take a little while to kick in. If you send the parcel after the deadline but before it’s cancelled, Vinted asks the buyer to refuse the parcel so it comes back to you.
What you can’t change after the sale
Once the buyer has paid, the carrier, the label type, the address and the parcel size are fixed. The only way to change any of them is to cancel the order and have the buyer buy again. So get the parcel size right when you list.
Choosing the parcel size
- Vinted suggests a size from the category, size and brand you enter. Check it against the real parcel.
- Pack the item first, then measure it on a flat surface: the longest, widest and highest points.
- Use packaging close to the size of the item. A parcel that’s too big can be refused by the carrier or cost extra.
- Heavy knitwear, coats and boots are the usual surprises. Weigh them before you list.
How to pack clothes
- Padded bag or cardboard box. Vinted says no unpadded bags or envelopes for clothes and shoes.
- Fold it clean and put it in a plastic bag or tissue paper inside, so rain doesn’t reach it.
- Shoes and anything with shape go in a box. Fill the gaps with paper so nothing moves.
- Bundles travel in one parcel, each item wrapped on its own.
- Seal it with strong tape on every opening.
- The label goes flat on the biggest side, barcode fully visible, edges taped down, old labels removed.
What carriers won’t take
Rarely an issue for clothes, but worth knowing: damaged or swollen batteries, flammable or toxic products, pressurised cans, liquids, cash, bank cards and ID documents. Vinted’s packing page has the full list, and electronics need their own packing.
After it arrives
Once Vinted says the parcel has been delivered, the buyer has 2 days to report a problem. If they don’t, the order completes and the money moves to your balance. If they do, our guide to Vinted returns and refunds covers what happens next. The buyer pays the shipping at checkout, and how Vinted works explains the fees.
The parcel should match the photos
Most problems after delivery come down to a buyer opening the parcel and finding something that doesn’t look like the listing. True-colour daylight photos and every flaw shown up close prevent that. If you add a worn photo made with AI, it has to show the same item. Vintsee keeps colour, print, logos and wear the same as your photo, and your own photos of the real item stay in the listing too.
