Vinted description templates: what to write, with examples

· 4 min read

A good Vinted description is short and answers the questions a buyer would otherwise message you about: will it fit, what’s it made of, is anything wrong with it. Here’s what to put in it, three templates you can copy, and what Vinted’s own rules say, read in October 2026.

The title

Buyers search with plain words like “brown wool jumper” or “straight jeans W30”, so put those words in the title. A reliable order: item type, brand (only if it’s on the label), colour, one detail, size. For example: “Cable-knit jumper, brown, oversized, M”. Skip “WOW” and emojis. They take space and nobody searches for them.

What the description needs

Vinted’s form already asks for category, brand, size, condition and up to three materials. The description is for what the form can’t say:

  1. What it is, in one sentence: the cut, the colour as it looks in daylight, anything special.
  2. Fit and measurements. Sizes vary between brands, so add two or three numbers measured flat: pit to pit and length for tops, waist and inside leg for trousers. Say how it fits you if you’ve worn it.
  3. Condition, with every flaw named. “Small mark on the left cuff, see photo 4” is worth more than “good condition”.
  4. Material, copied from the care label, especially when there are more than the three the form allows.
  5. Optional: smoke-free or pet-free home if true, happy to bundle.

Condition grades in plain words

Vinted’s condition grades (Help Centre, October 2026) and how to back them up in the description

Three templates to copy

  • Knit jumper. Title: “Cable-knit jumper, brown, oversized, M”. Description: “Chunky cable-knit jumper in chocolate brown, relaxed fit. Worn a few times, light bobbling under the arms (photo 5). Pit to pit 58 cm, length 66 cm. Label: 70% wool, 30% acrylic. Happy to bundle.”
  • Jeans. Title: “Straight-leg jeans, mid blue, high waist, W30 L32”. Description: “High-waisted straight jeans in mid-blue denim, no stretch. Good condition: some fading at the knees, no rips or stains. Waist measured flat 37 cm, inside leg 78 cm. 100% cotton.”
  • Dress. Title: “Floral midi wrap dress, cream and red, size 10”. Description: “Midi wrap dress, cream with small red flowers, lined to the knee. Very good condition, worn twice, no marks. Length from shoulder 115 cm. Viscose.”

What to leave out

  • Brands the item isn’t. Vinted bans hashtags of unrelated brands, and “inspired by” a brand is out too. Our hashtag guide explains what works instead.
  • Phone numbers, emails or other ways to pay. Asking buyers to pay outside Vinted is a reason for a block.
  • A material you haven’t checked. If the label is missing, say so. A wrong main material counts as “not as described”.
  • “No returns”. It doesn’t override Vinted’s Refund Policy. An honest description does more to prevent returns.

Let Vintsee write the first draft

When Vintsee makes a worn photo, it also writes the listing text in your language: a title of up to 60 characters, a description of two to four honest sentences about what it can see, including the condition, and three to five hashtags. It never makes up a brand, size or material, so add those from the label, along with your measurements, before you paste it into Vinted.
